Committees

Behind the scenes, a cadre of dedicated volunteers, members of the Board of Directors, and staff work together to build and sustain Wildlands Restoration Volunteers. If you'd like to join one of these dynamic groups, contact us at info@wlrv.org!

“I became involved in the Outreach Committee to continue my connection to WRV throughout the year and to further support an organization I truly believe in...The impact of WRV can be so much more wide reaching with the participation of volunteers in addition to the work of the WRV staff, and I'm excited to do my part.” Amy Kopkin, Outreach & Marketing Committee

Outreach & Marketing Committee

Getting the message about the work we do, and educating current volunteers, is key to developing a strong community of people engaged in stewardship. This committee creatively develops fun, pithy ways to share information about WRV as an organization and ways for the community to get involved.
Chairperson: Angie Francis - WRV Staff - Open.

Development Committee

This energetic group ensures that we can develop sufficient funding sources to support our restoration projects, community development activities and general operational needs. Volunteers on this committee do a variety of tasks, including: researching and writing grant proposals; developing relationships with local corporations; planning fundraising events, and working with potential donors.
Chairperson: Ed Self - WRV Staff - Open.

Leadership Development Committee (LDC)

A diverse group of trained, enthusiastic leadership volunteers serve as the driving force behind our restoration projects and community building activities and recruits, trains, mentors and provides support for volunteers. The LDC is made up of various working groups including: Project Leader, Technical Advisor, Cook/ Project Support Crew, Tool Manager, and Crew Leader.
Chairperson: WRV Staff.

Projects Committee

Executing successful, high quality ecological restoration projects is at the heart of what we do. The Projects Committee ensures that we maintain high quality, and finds innovative new ways to improve our project selection and execution processes.
Chairperson: Jean-Pierre George.

Policy Committee

This forward-thinking develops policies to promote fairness in employee relations, compliance with legal requirements, responsible operations, and environmental sustainability. We are working on updating the bylaws, developing an employee handbook, and recommending standards for working with youth. Committee members draw on legal and other expert resources, as well as the practices of similar organizations, to help shape appropriate policies for WRV. The committee is interested in recruiting professionals in the human resource field to join.
Chairperson: Ellen Flannelly.
