Testimonials For the Northern Rockies Chapter

My experience with WRV was very positive.  You are organized, professional and come with a group of enthusiastic, competent volunteers.  It was a pleasure to spend a day in the field with people who were willing to take time out of their daily routines to participate in a facet of an ongoing restoration project.  They were great folks to work with.   I really appreciate that you took the time scout the location, initiate the gathering of the willows, and coordinated the planting.  It made my involvement almost unnecessary.  I look forward to working with your group in the future.  Steve Gerdes, Fishery Biologist Butte and Pintler Ranger Districts, US Forest Service.

Working with the Northern Rockies Chapter of WRV (NRWRV) has been an extremely positive experience. This spring NRWRV, Trout Unlimited and MCC partnered to harvest willows for the Rock Creek riparian habitat restoration project. The process of planning the event, organizing volunteers and implementing the work was much more enjoyable because of the support we had with NRWRV. The volunteers were a motivated bunch and exceeded our expectations in harvesting over 2,000 willow cuttings. Trout Unlimited hopes to partner with NRWRV on future projects - their work will greatly assist us in restoring cold water fisheries.  –Heather Whitley, Project Coordinator, Trout Unlimited.

In spring 2010, WRV's Northern Rockies Chapter took on a challenging 3-day restoration project for The Nature Conservancy, in the mountains near Alberton in NW Montana.  A component of the "Fish Creek Watershed Rehabilitation Project", the task included packing hundreds of pounds of native grass/forb seed up a steep mountain, then seeding nine miles of decommissioned road surface.  Eight volunteers also braved cold and wet spring camping conditions, but enjoyed hearty meals and visiting arounda warm campfire.  –Steven Kloetzel, Western Montana Land Resource Manager, The Nature Conservancy.
